We've all by now heard about how Yahoo is trying to get some "cool" with a supposed $1 billion purchase of hip blogging platform Tumblr, but it may be a moot point if Tumblr's users fail to stick around post-sale.

Microsoft and Facebook may be trying to make a move ahead of Yahoo, Tumblr may be inching ever closer to running out of cash…

The Amazing Atheist, if you don’t already know him is an opinionated, and loud guy that isn’t afraid to speak his mind on various social, and political issues. Even at the expense of various dissenters. You can say that he is a very polarizing figure. A while back he put up a video ripping apart Feminist Video blogger Anita Sarkeesian. Although I think that Sarkeesian originally had some noble intentions, and wanted to raise a few valid questions, I find her implementation and most importantly her ideological, one side views to be off-putting, and unbalanced. However, I couldn’t fully put into words why her views and ideas rubbed me the wrong way. Here’s the Amazing Atheist’s take. Enjoy!

This video is also spot on as well too.

I currently own a Kindle Touch. It’s a nice upgrade from my 2nd gen Kindle keyboard. It’s great. It does the job with it’s e-ink display display, while not putting any strain on my eye. But it’s a one trick pony. And I mean that in the best way possible. It does an excellent job as an e-reader.

TL:DR of Facebook

TL:DR of Facebook

Saw this on George Takei’s facebook page. This about sums up Facebook for the most part these days. When it isn’t instagram pictures of food, pictures of vacations, and ‘location check ins.

Tired of throwing on your favorite cat video for all your friends to see, and having your video buffer several times despite your 50 mbps download speed? Or having to go through several re-buffers on your favorite podcasts, despite us being well past the godawful RealPlayer video days?

The old days before Netflix and readily available high speed internet.

Well….. This man may have a solution for you.

Technology and Children

Reddit thread in question

Another reddit plug. I’m addicted, I’m not gonna lie.

I’ll admit this right now. I’m only 23 years old. I am not a parent. And I’m relatively young to be thinking about bringing kids to the world. But I do sometimes think about the world I would be potentially bringing them into if I did decide to have them. I saw a recent Reddit thread where the OP questioned the use and impact of young children using technology.

Hey look, a Puppy! But seriously, this little feller summerizes how I feel about not posting and keeping up with the blog

Hey look, a puppy! But seriously, this little feller summarizes how I feel about not posting and keeping up with the blog

As you can see, I haven’t written here in ages. A lot of things have come up in my life which have caused me to shift focus from this excellent blog. For one, finishing up college, two, a shift of focus in dabbling in other genres and interest like the blog I’m co-authoring with my best friend, and lastly plain ole’ lack of focus relating to all things tech.

I apologize to the followers, and people who have contacted me regarding the blog. But ‘Good News Everybody’, I’m back. And I am looking to expand my focus on technology, and gadget to other geekandry(I don’t know if that’s a word, but fuck it, I’ll make it one. Expect to see me dabble a bunch more other things like Geek related cult classic TV Shows, Anime, a little bit about video games and possibly the latest going on in Tech Podcast(I’m totally need to catch up on my Revision3 programming lol). Although it’s not excuse for my inactivity, and lack of focus on this blog, the best is yet to come!

On that note, I leave you with some Ned Stark:

Farmville, Tower Staker, and now movies?

That’s right you read that correctly. The entire MTV’s Jackass catalog will be available to Facebook users for Facebook credits. This isn’t exactly the first steam of films that are being available to the social networking platform. Facebook has also been provided films by companies like Warner Bros as well.

Just when we though that Facebook was the endless provider of distractions, hell, I have even had to install a program called “Self-Control” for my MacBook, to block sites for a certain amount of time, and keep me productive. As if we don’t have enough games, apps, and quizzes to distract ourselves with. Facebook is looking to become a mini-netflix.  Reddit has been like crack cocaine to me, and I’m sure a lot of other people. There are plenty of rage comics out there that outline the bane of our distractions.

And what is to stop these very same Facebook users from going to Megavideo, or other sites to just stream these movies. Credits on Facebook are usually purchased. How much profit this will all make future studios that do this is yet to be seen.

Hide yo’ laptop. Hide yo’ iPhone. Cause they’re distracting ‘errbody out here!

Ah. The pleasures of living in the electronic age.
